Our History
Newport Business Systems was founded in 1987 by Chris and Judy Eddy who brought extensive industry experience to Coffs Harbour, both having worked in communications with the Royal Australian Navy. Having built the business for more than two decades, Chris and Judy decided 2010 was the right time for them to enjoy a well-earned break from work and pursue their love of travel.
Tom and Bridget Baker officially took over from Chris and Judy as owners of Newport Business Systems from 1 July 2010. The business was very familiar to Tom who had been an employee with Newport Business Telephones from 1999 to 2003 and had provided intermittent support to Newport during the previous 6 years, working as a PABX Technician in-amongst working as a self-employed Electrical Contractor in Coffs Harbour and surrounding areas.
Originally from Germany, Tom and Bridget worked in Scotland and England for several years before moving to Australia in 1999. As a qualified Electrician and over 20 years in Electrical & Electronics and 10 years in the Telecommunications industry, Tom brought significant experience and expertise to Newport Business Systems.
As committed Christians, Tom and Bridget have sought to build a business of integrity. Since taking over the business in July 2010, their leadership has seen NBS experience significant growth whilst remaining focused on its core values to deliver quality and reliable telecommunication solutions for businesses throughout the NSW Mid North Coast.
Given the ongoing changes in the telecommunications industry, the NBS team of Accredited Technicians remain committed to professional development in order to remain at the forefront of new, state-of-the-art technologies and market developments.
